- Listen for what the suspension absorbs and what it passes through to the cabin. Tire size, wheel diameter and the adaptive damping on higher trims all change the character of the same car considerably.
- Interior appointments
- Seat materials, trim inlays, seat heating and ventilation, audio and ambient lighting are usually where trim levels separate. Sit in the back seat too, not just the driver's seat.
- Driver-assistance technology
- Available systems vary by model and trim. Ask which are standard on the car you're looking at and which arrive in a package, then test how the adaptive cruise and lane centering behave on the highway before you decide.

How the incentives work
Manufacturer rebates, special finance offers and lease programs are attached to specific vehicles by model, trim and program period rather than to the lineup as a whole. Eligibility-based programs such as loyalty, conquest, military and college graduate offers require documented eligibility where applicable, and some can be combined while others cannot.
